The Korean Jindo Dog, often called the Jindo or Jin Dog, is a beloved breed with a rich history.
The Korean Jindo Dog originated on Jindo Island off the southwestern coast of South Korea. The breed developed over centuries on this isolated island, creating a pure landrace with remarkable hunting instincts, loyalty, and intelligence. Jindos were used for hunting deer, wild boar, and rabbits. The Korean government designated the Jindo Dog as the 53rd National Treasure of Korea in 1962. A famous story tells of a Jindo named Baekgu who was sold and transported 300 km from Jindo but found her way home seven months later.
