Pup Parents Spend ~1,000hrs Each Year Taking Care of Their Dog

Dogs thrive on companionship, structure, and physical activity, which all require significant investments in time from their humans. Not spending adequate time with your pup can lead to behavioral problems such as anxiety, aggression, or increases in destructive behaviors like chewing or digging. A substantial number of dogs are surrendered to shelters each year because owners later find that they don't have the time to properly care for their pup. Further, these dogs who were neglected often have difficulty with rehoming due to the negative consequences of the neglect in the first place - poor socialization, anxious, aggressive or destructive tendencies make for a cycle of challenges for the dog throughout their life. The bottom line is that Paction encourages those considering a dog to be thoughtful and realistic about the time it takes to do a good job as a pup parent. And, this is why Paction has built the Pup Time Estimator.

How much time does a dog need?

What goes into the calculations in Paction's Pup Time Estimator? Pups require time for exercise, training and general care. The largest contributors to the amount of time it takes to raise a pup are the commitment to give your dog enough exercise and take them out to go to the bathroom regularly. But, so many other tasks are often overlooked for a new pup parent. These include planning and traveling to their vet and grooming appointments, ensuring there is healthy food fed each day and even just the additional burden of cleaning up after a pup. On the positive side, everyone enjoys the bonding, playing and companionship aspects of spending time with their dog. Ultimately, time spent with a dog brings warmth, joy, and companionship, reminding opening pup parents up to the beauty of simple, loyal relationships.
