The Catahoula Bulldog, often called the Catahoula Bull, is a beloved breed with a rich history.
The Catahoula Bulldog is an American working cross between the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog and the American Bulldog. Developed over a century ago in the American South, this hybrid was bred specifically for hog catching and cattle work. The Catahoula contributed tracking ability, agility, and the 'bay and hold' hunting instinct, while the American Bulldog added jaw strength and the power to physically hold large wild hogs. The result is a tough, versatile working dog still used on farms and ranches today.
