The Miniature Poodle, often called the Mini Poodle or Miniature Poo, is a beloved breed with a rich history.
Though many associate the Poodle with France, the breed actually originated in Germany, where it was used as a water retriever ("pudel" means "to splash in water"). The Miniature Poodle was developed later, primarily in France, by selectively breeding down the Standard Poodle to create a smaller version suited for companionship and more urban lifestyles. Historically, Miniature Poodles were also used in circuses and as truffle hunters due to their agility, trainability, and keen sense of smell. Today, they’re cherished for their elegant appearance, hypoallergenic coats, and brilliant minds.
