The dachshund is a hound dog that was originally bred to hunt badgers. The breed's development can be traced back as far as the 15th century, but it didn't really take off until 17th-century Germany. These short-legged dogs had lots of energy and were ideal for digging through tunnels and chasing after small animals. Known affectionately as the doxie, wiener dog or hotdog, this short stature breed leaves a lasting impression. From their trademark long body with short legs, this lovable and unique breed is a favourite among dog lovers.

The name dachshund comes from the German words dachs (badger) and hund (dog). Before the 1900s smaller Dachshunds were used  to catch very small animals underground.  Miniature Dachshunds today typically weigh between 8 and 14 pounds and come in three coats: Smooth, long-haired, and wire-haired

I've dedicated my life to working with animals, and that's what makes me so passionate about this field. From fostering to working as a groomer and all breed conformation handler. It is in my genes to love and care for animals. My goal is to ensure that every dog leaves us happy, healthy and loved.

My love for the Dachshund started with my first standard black and tan in 1973

We have puppies all over the world and have access to some wonderful transporters to help us deliver safely to the new families.

We have been breeding healthy and happy pups since 2001.

Dachshunds fit well in most lifestyles and LOVE their humans. They can definitely become amazing companions when paired to the right family.

Being extremely intelligent and affectionate they do require a lot of human interaction on a daily basis including training and physical activity to help them grow and maintain a healthy life. Our little friends thrive going on walks or hikes alongside their humans making great adventure buddies but they also enjoy some sofa time.

One important thing to remember is even though they are tiny and oh so cute they are dogs and need to be treated so to be mentally stable. These dogs are not toys or dolls.

Dachshunds were originally bred to hunt and do have a prey drive with some being stronger than others. European dogs tend to be more active and having a stronger prey drive than American lines who tend to be couch potatoes. Choosing the right puppy for you is therefore very important as character and needs can vary in the breed.

We live in Collingwood, Ontario, with a beautiful view of The Blue Mountains, we have our Cottage on Matchedash Bay where our adults and pups can run around in fresh air and enjoy the refreshing water of Georgian Bay to play in, with tons of room for puppies and children alike to run and play.
