Breed history

The Norwegian Buhund originated in Norway as a herding and farm dog, dating back to Viking times. Bred for versatility, intelligence, and endurance, they worked closely with humans to herd sheep, guard property, and assist in general farm duties. Their spitz-type appearance and thick double coat allowed them to thrive in cold, harsh environments.
