The Golden Retriever is one of the most popular and beloved dog breeds in the world. Originating in Scotland during the mid-19th century, the breed was developed by Sir Dudley Marjoribanks, later known as Lord Tweedmouth. By crossing the now-extinct Yellow Retriever with the Tweed Water Spaniel and later introducing other breeds like Irish Setters and Bloodhounds, he aimed to create a versatile hunting dog with excellent retrieving abilities on land and water.
