If you're reading this, you know that puppies bring joy year-round, but today is a special day dedicated just to them. That's right—March 23 marks National Puppy Day!

Established in 2006 by animal advocate and pet lifestyle expert Colleen Paige, this day has grown into a widely recognized occasion. While it's certainly a time to appreciate the cuteness of puppies, the real purpose behind National Puppy Day is to promote thoughtful adoption and rehoming of pups. More recently, the holiday has gained popularity around the world, with people everywhere taking part in celebrations and advocacy efforts.

LEIN KENNEL REG'D

Lein kennels was established in 1974 and has been involved with breeding and showing dogs. Our Australian shepherds are bred for character, soundness and biddability. Pups are raised in the home and their parents have been DNA tested and cleared of multiple hereditary diseases. Whether for performance, show or a loveable companion, we believe that everyone deserves to have a well bred and healthy dog. We began our involvement with the Australian shepherd in 2001.We take pride in producing Quality not Quantity with only one or two litters per year. Our puppies are raised in the house and are part of the family, providing extensive socialization.

At West Meadow Shepherds, we are devoted to raising exceptional German Shepherds with a focus on health, temperament, and intelligence. Our dogs are known for their well-mannered nature, emotional intuition, and unwavering devotion to their humans. Raised on our family farm with daily hands-on care, each puppy is nurtured in an enriching environment that encourages confidence, social connection, and a strong foundation for companionship or therapeutic support. MATALSHA COMPANIONS

We are situated on a half acre of land deep within Grey Bruce County. Our adult Havanese have plenty of on and off-leash training and fun. Each pup is well socialized and receives a ton of love and gentle handling by us and our growing crew of grandsons. We truly believe that this one-on-one attention and socialization with family and other pets is a huge part of what sets our pups apart and helps prepare them for your home whether or not you have small children. Mothers know that the birthing process is a sacred experience. That’s why we have a specialized heated birthing suite with 24/7 surveillance that our pregnant moms have all to themselves to enjoy a little extra peace and tranquility before birth, during recovery and nursing.

My Dog Breeding Philosophy is that every decision I make is determined by what is best for my dogs. I subscribe to the Puppy Culture System of Raising Puppies. This approach focuses on three principals: Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Puppy Socialisation, and Environmental Enrichment. With these practices, the puppies I provide are healthy, confident, and adventure seeking. I care deeply about each and every one of my puppies and I work hard to ensure that they are all placed in appropriate and loving homes. The updates and pictures I receive from owners of puppies from my previous litters reinforces my belief that the effort involved is worthwhile.

My family and I have been raising registered and genetically health tested Aussies for a number of years now. Aussies have been the perfect fit for our family and have been excellent additions to numerous, active households across Canada. What sets us apart? We prioritize health and wellbeing in our dogs and pups while also striving to have affordable dogs. Owning a well-bred dog does require investment in reputable breeders, but should be a feasible option for the average family or individual. And that’s what we are all about! Because we raise highly intelligent herding breed dogs, we have learned a lot about keeping pups and dogs entertained, mentally active & well trained

CANADOODLE

Canadoodle Australian Labradoodles began its journey with the labradoodles in February of 2001. We have grown and flourished since then. Canadoodle Australian Labradoodles is an In-Home program, our labradoodles are a part of our family. We have a handful of doodles who live with us and the rest are happily living with their forever Guardian Families. Puppies are all hand whelped and raised in our home. Our two grandchildren help to socialize the puppies as well as our group of trusted helpers and their families. Genetic soundness and healthy happy puppies are of the utmost importance to us along with joyful happy families who have come to share our doodles. Our labradoodles are carefully Health tested to ensure that only the best join our program and become the parents of our future.

DOODLES DELIGHT

We are a small scale, home based ethical breeder dedicated to producing healthy, intelligent, family focused and allergy friendly puppies. We breed F1b & F1bb Bernedoodles. Bernedoodles are a hybrid dog who are bred to be true family dogs. They are intelligent, energetic and hypoallergenic. We limit our breeding to 1 - 2 litters per year, allowing us time to provide each mama dog and puppy individual attention. We begin therapy dog curriculum with our puppies when they are 3 days old and perform formal temperament testing at 7 weeks. At Doodles Delight, our parent dogs are DNA & OFA / PenHip tested. They are part of the family, living in a healthy home environment with high-quality nutrition, and plenty of love.

PUPPIES R’US

Breeding Purebred CKC registered Havanese puppies since 2019 in Calgary Alberta, we raise our pups in our loving home, they truly are part of our family! I have always been an animal lover, especially dogs. December 27, 2019, my partner and I walked into a pet store and saw a group of havanese playing. We fell in love with one of them, he loved his beautiful colors. Rocky became the centre of attention, with his goofy personality and extremely kind and caring demeanor, he had us all wrapped around his paw. This is where my obsession with the Havanese breed began! My mom and I breed our dogs in our home, where they are part of our family. We take pride in the quality of puppies we raise, they are so happy and healthy, we raise them in the most loving home.

RED DOG KENNEL CHESAPEAKE BAY RETRIEVERS

Red Dog Kennel Chesapeake Bay Retrievers is located outside Barrie near Creemore Ontario. We breed puppies for hunters, farmers, watersports lovers, sport dog enthusiasts and extremely active families. We have created our own proprietary line of working dogs designed by us focused on personality traits and not for looks, colour or ribbons therefore we DO NOT inbreed! Our breeding dogs are extremely loyal family companions, have higher than average prey drives and athletic skills and are naturally protective only when necessary and never without cause making them great family dogs. We even have 3 PTSD service dogs that come from our kennel donated free of charge to Fire Team K9s a training organization for Wounded Warriors Canada. Our dog Tikka, handled by our daughter, is an excellent dock diver and part of a team of dogs that compete all over North America.
