Mauro's Mission | Citywide German Shepherds
Mauro's Story
Mauro’s love for German Shepherds started young. Growing up with the breed, he spent time as a child in the library reading all about these dogs. But before Mauro got into breeding he also had a playful Goldendoodle named Spade. Spade wasn’t just a pet; he was a companion through life’s ups and downs. When Spade unexpectedly passed at the age of seven, the loss left Mauro heartbroken but also presented a new opportunity.
In 2011, fate delivered Ace into Mauro’s life - a proud German Shepherd born on 11/11/11. Together, they explored the world of dog shows, placements, and training. It wasn’t long before Mauro took a leap deeper into the dog world, bringing home a female shepherd with full breeding rights.
Over time, the pack grew. Today, Citywide German Shepherds is a beautiful facility nestled in King Township, Ontario. With a sprawling property, luxurious amenities, and a dedicated training program. Mauro, drawing from his roots in the grocery business, also produces and sells raw dog food, giving his pups the best from the inside out.
But for Mauro, owning a dog isn’t just about companionship or show ribbons - it’s about the commitment. When potential buyers ask, “How much?” Mauro hears a deeper question: Are you ready for this commitment? Because the true cost of a dog isn’t the upfront price—it’s the lifetime of care. Accidents happen. Emergencies strike. Dogs can’t speak to tell us what’s wrong.
Pet Insurance
That’s why Mauro is a strong advocate of pet insurance. “Unless you can write a $10,000 cheque without blinking,” he says, “you need insurance. And don’t wait! Get it before your pup develops a pre-existing condition.”
Preventive Health Care for Your Pup
Beyond insurance, Mauro champions preventative health. Supplements for joint and liver care, proper oral hygiene, and thoughtful early development are essential. The first six months set the tone for your dog’s whole life. With German Shepherds especially, he warns against over-exercise in the first year to protect growing muscles and prevent conditions like hip dysplasia.
