Breed history
The English Cream Golden Retriever, often called the English Cream or White Golden, is a beloved breed with a rich history.
Golden Retrievers originated in Scotland in the mid-19th century, developed by crossing retrievers, water spaniels, and setters to create a dog skilled at retrieving game from both land and water. As the breed spread across Europe and North America, different regional preferences emerged. European breeding programs favored lighter coat colors and a sturdier build, which later became popularly known as “English Cream” Golden Retrievers. While coat shade varies, all remain true Golden Retrievers in temperament, ability, and purpose—versatile, people-oriented sporting dogs bred to work closely with humans.
